Hit the streets of Myanmar’s most cosmopolitan city on this fascinating journey into Yangon. Packed with pagodas and crammed with colonial relics, Yangon is one of the most enchanting cities in Asia. On this tour you will discover the city’s premier attractions such as Shwedagon, Scotts market and the colonial quarter. However we will also take you off the main roads on a voyage to discover the real Burma: tranquil teashops, and quiet neighbourhood temples and enigmatic people not afraid to open their hearts and talk to strangers.
The Kyaik Htee Yoe Pagoda is also known as the Golden Rock. It is the largest domestic tourism centre located about 140 km east (5 hours drive) from Yangon. The Golden Rock is a sacred, massive, gold-leafed boulder resting precariously on the edge of a cliff at the top of Mount Kyaik Htee Yoe. The hill lies about 1100 m above the sea level. The legend says that the balance of the rock is due to a Buddha’s hair specially placed in the stupa.
On the way back, you’ll take the road to Bago, a gracious Mon kingdom where you’ll visit the venerated Shwemawdaw Pagoda and the 55-meter long reclining Buddha, Shwe Thar Hlyaung Pagoda.
Heading out from the city, you’ll take the road to Thanlyin which is located on the bank of the Yangon River and is a major port. The main tourist attraction in Thanlyin is Kyaik Khauk Pagoda and Kyauktan Yele Pagoda. There is also the National Races Village across the river.
Warmly welcome at Yangon International Airport and transfer to the hotel. You’ll venture downtown to explore the city centre and its fabulous mix of architecture and sites. The streets are filled with historical buildings many of which have a faded colonial charm not seen elsewhere in Asia. You’ll start at the post office – a lovely historic building- and walk to Sule Pagoda in the middle of downtown, passing by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument along the way. Then visit China town, little India town, a colorful cacophony of restaurants, temples and markets.
In the evening, visit Shwedagon Pagoda which is the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar and enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point. Stay overnight in Yangon.
We will depart Yangon in the morning and travel by road to Kyaik Htee Yoe (Golden Rock), where you will transfer to a local open truck. Once on your uphill trek, you’ll have the chance to encounter engaging locals and to admire the natural beauty of the surroundings before reaching the astounding Golden Rock, one of the most venerated sites in all of Asia. Stay overnight near Golden Rock.
After having breakfast, proceed to Bago which is the former capital of the ancient Mon Kingdom. Your visit to Bago will include seeing the 55-meter long reclining Buddha, Shwe Thar Hlyaung Pagoda and the Mon style, Shwemawdaw Pagoda. On the way back to Yangon, you’ll visit the Allied War Cemetery, the final resting place for more than 27,000 allied soldiers. Stay overnight in Yangon.
After having breakfast at the hotel, drive to Thanlyin (Syriam/30 minutes) from Port City of Ancient Mon Dynasty. Upon arrival, visit Thanlyin morning market, Kyike Khauk Pagoda, Pardagyi Pagoda and continue to Kyike Maw Won (Yay Lal Pagoda) in Kyauk Tan.
In the afternoon, drive back and visit to the National Races Village. If you visit this village, you will not only enjoy fresh breeze blowing across Bago River but also get the sense of Union Spirit from the village of our national races – Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Bamar, Mon, Rakhine and Shan. You can see buildings with significant symbols denoting various national races residing in the country.
In the evening, drive back to Yangon and visit to Botahtaung Pagoda which is situated beside the Yangon River. The Botahtaung Pagoda means literally the Pagoda of the thousand military leaders and they were the ones who escorted the relics of the Buddha brought from India over two thousand years ago. The Botahtaung Pagoda was a famous Land-mark on Yangon’s waterfront. Enjoy the beautiful sunset at Botahtaung Jetty. After that, enjoy the dinner with cultural show at Karaweik Restaurant which is located in Kandawgyi Nature Park. Stay overnight in Yangon.
After having breakfast at the hotel, visit Bogyoke Market inaugurated in 1926, is the most popular market of Yangon and Myanmars as well. A wide range of Myanmar souvenirs are available at this market attracting every foreign visitor guests also visit the market to buy trendy clothes and accessories. Then, transfer to the Yangon International Airport and take your departure flight.
